Eugene was born in San Francisco, Ca., to Eugenio Esteban Gutierrez II and Sylvia Margarita Del Palacaio. He served two years in the United States Navy, before meeting and marrying the love of his life, Anita Brown. Eugene and Anita were married for thirty eight years and had six daughters, one son, and eventually ten grandchildren.
Eugene raised his family in Pasadena, Ca. and devoted his life to his family and faith. He was proud of all his children and passionate about education and providing for them. Eugene and Anita sent all of their children to the best private Catholic schools in La Canada, Ca. They now have a highly skilled Engineer, CPA, vice president of a major hospital, attorney, Insurance Claims Examiner, former patrol sergeant and customer service supervisor as a result of their passion and hard work.
He was an MAI Appraiser who owned his own business in Pasadena, Ca. and appraised real estate in all of southern California for approximately 45 years. He also worked as a probate referee for Los Angeles County until his retirement in 2012.
He was musically inclined and was proficient in playing the vibraharp and piano and he proudly owned each instrument.
Eugene will always be remembered for his joking personality, contagious smile, especially when he saw his children and grandchildren; brilliant mathematical mind and most importantly, the love he had for his family and others, in good times and in bad.
Eugene is survived by Lynette Rehkopf; Jeannine Chomyn; Eugene Esteban Gutierrez IV; Michelle Demaio; Renee’ Maslauskas-Gutierrez; Denise Gutierrez-Brown and Diane Gutierrez. Denise and Diane are his youngest daughters and are fraternal twins.
A viewing is scheduled for December 1, 2017 from 4-8pm at Halley-Olsen-Murphy Mortuary in Lancaster, Ca. The memorial service is scheduled for December 2, 2017 at 10am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lancaster, Ca. His final resting place will be at Mountain View Mausoleum.
