November-2023 Looking out the window here at Mountain View once again

20 Nov 2023

  • October has come and gone. The best day in October is of course, Halloween. And Halloween means kids and fun and candy and of course Trick-or-Treating. Every October 31st you can hear those little steps marching up and down Fair Oaks Avenue in search of Halloween goodies. This year the most popular characters were Spiderman and all things Marvel-ous.

  • It’s November and those Fall colors have begun to brighten our day and brighten our grounds here at Mountain View. Looking down on our Sunset Lawn North area is a special early morning eye opener. Park your car and look to the right and down into Sunset Lawn North. Early mornings, the sun hits those yellow leaves and greener-than-green trees, a Selfie moment to cherish.

  • Congratulations to Arcadia’s Naomi Stillitano, the latest Rose Queen. Speaking of roses, we invite all our neighbors to visit our Mountain View grounds and enjoy all our roses of many colors. Pictured here is right behind our Columbarium and she and her colorful sistas are always, as we say, a flowery tribute to the upcoming January 24 Rose Parade, only a few weeks away.

  • Walking inside our cemetery, turn left inside our Fair Oaks gate, you’ll see an early upright marker that was the style way back when. Imagine the Nicholson family history! A remarkably long life, considering that these were the days before wonder drugs and advances in medicine. Days that are now thankfully, history.

  • To paraphrase the Good Book, early light and early walks gently remind us that our mourning of evening will blossom into our healing in the morning. It’s small wonder that morning cemetery walks are becoming more and more popular.

If you want to walk off a few extra calories from all those holiday meals and all those holiday leftovers, take a walk on the healthy side here at Mountain View. We’re open Seven Days. Have an awesome Thanksgiving…

Till we look out the window here at Mountain View once again…
