A Summer of Music and Dance Under the Stars: Altadena Music Theatre Comes to Mountain View
14 Aug 2026

This summer, the lawn at Mountain View Mausoleum is becoming a stage.
After losing its theatrical home in the devastating 2025 Eaton Fire, Altadena Music Theatre is returning to the community with a new outdoor season; and Mountain View Mausoleum is honored to welcome them.
In the aftermath of the fire, Altadena Music Theatre was faced with the loss of the place where casts, creatives and audiences had gathered together for years. Rather than allowing that loss to bring the curtain down, the company began looking for a way forward. For its 2026 season, a custom outdoor stage and seating area has been constructed on the grounds of Mountain View Mausoleum, creating a new place for the community to gather under the stars.
The season begins August 6 with one of musical theatre’s most beloved celebrations of youth, friendship and rock ’n’ roll: Grease.
Set at Rydell High School in the 1950s, Grease follows teenagers Danny Zuko(Eric Stanton Betts) and Sandy Dumbrowski (Ruby Lewis) after a summer romance unexpectedly follows them into the school year. Surrounded by the unforgettable T-Birds and Pink Ladies, the two navigate friendship, growing up and the sometimes complicated business of young love; all set to the songs and high-energy style that have made Grease a cultural favorite for generations.
Performances of Grease run August 6–16, beginning with Opening Night on Thursday, August 6 at 8:00 PM.
Celebrating Theatre and Altadena:Founded in 2020 amid the uncertainty of the pandemic, Altadena Music Theatre began with a mission to bring people together through live performance. A purpose that feels especially meaningful as the company once again finds new ways to gather after the Eaton Fire.
Today, Altadena Music Theatre is a female-founded 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to enriching the Los Angeles community through live musical theatre, arts advocacy and developmental youth programs. Its productions bring talented members of the community together with working professional actors while helping make theatrical experiences welcoming and accessible to a wide range of audiences.
That mission carries a particular meaning this year.
Following the Eaton Fire, the company expressed its determination to continue supporting Altadena as the community heals and rebuilds. This summer season is one small but joyful part of that effort: an opportunity to gather once again, share stories and celebrate the arts together.
Following Grease, the outdoor season continues with Little Shop of Horrors, running September 3–13.
Join Us Under the Stars:Tickets for the 2026 summer season range from $40–$80, and season passes offering admission to both productions are available with a 25% discount.
We invite our neighbors throughout Altadena, Pasadena and the greater Los Angeles community to spend a summer evening under the stars, support local theatre, and share in another season of community gathering at Mountain View.
