April-2024 Looking out the window here at Mountain View once again

22 Apr 2024

  • Genesis. It all began for us here at Mountain View in 1882. Property in Pasadena changed hands and those traditional backyard graves were gently moved to their new place of rest here on Fair Oaks Avenue in Altadena. Industrial America was stretching her arms and legs. In Missouri, outlaw Jessie James was killed, and a legend was born.

  • It’s April. Mother Nature is in full Spring and in full Swing. More and more of our Altadena neighbors are visiting us during the early hours. It’s a healthy way to start your day and dog walkers are most welcome. Bring a bottle of H2O. Bring a friend. Nothing says Good Morning Altadena like a walk through our lush green historic grounds. Open Seven Days. Happy Earth Day April 22nd!

  • Many celebrities are buried here at Mountain View. Most are famous. Many are infamous. Chicago. 1924. Maybe it was that Windy City weather? Maybe it was in the water? Three Chicago women were the occupants of Murderesses Row. Bela G. was one of the incarcerated women. Her character later helped inspire the “Cell Block Tango”scene in the Broadway musical and movie “Chicago.” She rests here at Mountain View.

  • Just inside our Fair Oaks Avenue gate is our Sunset Lawn North scenic area. It’s quite a sight to see. Shade trees. A garden of Roses. Some of our earliest residents rest here and you can just imagine the family history as you walk along the ground markers that reach back generations. There’s even a wooden marker from 1905!

  • Need a break from your weekday hustle and bustle? Enjoy the Saturday and Sunday solitude as you gaze at our rainbow of light from Stained Glass windows big and small, inside our Mother Mausoleum on Marengo Avenue. Happy April!

    Go Dodgers!

Till we look out the window here at Mountain View once again…
