August-Looking out the window here at Mountain View once again

29 Aug 2022

  • Altadena-Morning

The magic month of August has arrived. Our Altadena August mornings are quite beautiful. As the sun slowly rises, the colors of our flowers gracing our Fair Oaks Gate are in full view. We owe the beauty of the morning to Mother Nature and of course our grounds crew. Every morning they arrive early. Well before that early sunrise. Thanks guys.

  • Flower-Girl-Florence

With the play of light and shadow as the sun rises, you can see them throughout our Mountain View Cemetery. They are short and tall. Thin and wide. They are the many statues and include our Flower girl, Florence. We can only imagine the many families and stories that our Florence has seen and heard during her many years here in Altadena. She’s been an inspiration for quite a while. Stop by and say hello.

  • Mr.-Green

Speaking of inspiration, imagine during the early days. The early days of Altadena and Pasadena. As so many left the Midwest and came to California, some very special dedicated personalities, started the ball rolling. Mr. Green rests here and thanks to his ambitious spirit, he started what every evolving community needed: A Bank. As Pasadena grew, so did Mr. Green’s innovative spirits. When he passed, all business merchants took the day off. A homage to Mr. Green. Find the whole story on Google.

  • Sunrise-Chapel-Sistas

It seems that the affection our families have for our Sunrise Chapel seems to live forever. It’s not just the large video screens that help tell our family back stories or the architecture of our Chapel. It’s not just the Stained Glass. We know it must be the lovely Roses that bloom and rebloom, it seems, every couple of days. They help set the stage for our sacred family services. Rose Sistas, you guys are awesome.

  • Weekend-Walkers-Welcome

The song says, those boots are made for walking and here at Mountain View, we welcome all boots on the ground. So many walking boots find their way here on the weekend, so join the unofficial club. Bring some H2O. Bring a friend. Or two. As the work week ends, a walk-through our historical cemetery is the best place to unwind. Lose those workingfrom-home blues with a Weekend Walk. See you soon.

You can look up grave-locations Online or stop by our Information Booth or our office and ask for an official map to jump-start your walking adventures. As August slowly comes to an end, remember your walking mantra: Go Dodgers!

Till we look out the window here at Mountain View once again…
